Diversified Consulting Inc. is an independent actuarial advisory firm serving the life and annuity industry. The practice is led by Glen A. Gusewelle, ASA, MAAA, who has thirty-five years of carrier-side and consulting experience.

1 · The firm

Diversified Consulting is a single-principal practice based in Overland Park, Kansas. The firm exists to make Glen's experience available by engagement, without the overhead and dilution of a larger consultancy. Every engagement is led personally by Glen from first call to delivery.

2 · The principal

Glen A. Gusewelle, ASA, MAAA

Designations. Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

Experience. Thirty-five years of life and annuity practice, across carrier-side actuarial roles and consulting engagements. Work has spanned product development, valuation, financial reporting, governance, and expert-witness engagements.

Qualifications. Mr. Gusewelle is qualified under the U.S. Qualification Standards adopted by the American Academy of Actuaries to issue Statements of Actuarial Opinion in the life and annuity practice areas.

3 · Markets served

The firm accepts engagements from five constituencies:

  • Carriers: life, annuity, and reinsurance companies.
  • Employers: plan sponsors and benefits committees.
  • Attorneys: litigation, regulatory, and transactional counsel.
  • Accountants: audit firms and reporting partners.
  • Regulators: state insurance departments and examination teams.

4 · Practice areas

4.1 · Product development

Pricing and structural design for new life and annuity contracts, from concept through pricing committee, regulatory filing, and post-launch monitoring.

4.2 · Life & annuity valuation

Statutory and GAAP reserves, asset adequacy testing, cash-flow testing, and reserve adequacy under principle-based regimes.

4.3 · Financial reporting

Quarterly and annual actuarial reporting support (STAT, GAAP and LDTI) with reconciliation, controls, and audit-ready documentation.

4.4 · Expert witness

Actuarial opinion in litigation and regulatory proceedings: life, annuity, and disability matters. Engagement may include report preparation, deposition, and trial testimony.

4.5 · M&A due diligence

Reserve and capital diligence on the buy side and sell side. Block valuations, embedded value, and post-close integration support.

4.6 · Predictive modeling

Mortality, lapse, and morbidity modeling using current statistical methods, applied to pricing, valuation, and in-force management.

4.7 · AI agent development

Custom AI agents for valuation, reporting, and reconciliation workflows, built with the controls and documentation an actuary can sign.

4.8 · Governance & oversight

Design and review of actuarial governance: model risk, assumption committees, sign-off protocols, and oversight calendars.

4.9 · Reporting remediation

Diagnosis and remediation of inherited reporting issues: restatements, control gaps, and the orderly path back to a clean opinion.

5 · How we engage

Every engagement follows the same structure:

  1. First conversation. A thirty-minute call to understand the question, the timeline, and the audience for the work. No charge, no obligation.
  2. Engagement letter. A short, written engagement letter: fixed scope, fixed fee or hourly cap, defined deliverable, defined recipient.
  3. Senior-only execution. Glen performs the analysis personally. No staffing pyramid.
  4. Defensible delivery. A signed actuarial opinion, memorandum, or report, built to stand up to audit, regulator, opposing counsel, or board.

6 · Fees

Fees are quoted in writing before any engagement begins. Two structures are available:

  • Fixed-fee: used where scope and deliverable can be defined precisely (most opinions, brochures, governance reviews, one-off valuations).
  • Hourly with cap: used where scope cannot be fixed in advance (expert-witness engagements, remediation work, complex M&A diligence). Caps are reset only by written amendment.

The firm does not accept commission, referral, or transaction-based compensation. Compensation is paid by the client, not by any product issuer or third party.

7 · Professional standards

All work is performed in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct adopted by the American Academy of Actuaries, the applicable U.S. Qualification Standards, and the relevant Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOPs) issued by the Actuarial Standards Board.
